Universal Grab Handle

QR Code

Often is a grab handle for a Maxpedition Colossus desired. Here is an idea how you can build a universal grab handle for different bags with webbing. You need a lot of paracord, 2 ITW Web Dominators or National Molding Slik Clips.

First step is to release the bungee cord from the Web Dominators and to twiddle the paracord through the loophole as shown in the picture. Choose a length you prefer. Now you can follow one of the hundreds of instructions how to make paracord lanyards. If you don’t know where to look use ‘survival bracelet’ or ‘stormdrane’ for a google search.

When you finished the knotting you have a nice handle with two web dominators at the end. Now you can attach them on any bag or pouch with any kind of MOLLE webbing. I dropped the shoulder strap of the colossus and stored the ends in the CCW pocket, then attached it on the upper webbing.
A second way: Attach it on the side webbing. For this it should be longer than for the upper attaching.

You can attach the handle on different pouches. For example on a Maxpedition Tactile Medium.

If the webbing isn’t horizontal you can replace the web dominator with a slik clip as shown with Maxpedition 7x5x4 GP. With slik clips and web dominators you can attached different things with paracord. The next pictures show a kind of a survival bracelet. I don’t like bracelets so I made a survial lanyard which can be attached to horizontal or vertical webbing. On the lanyard is a Silva watch compass, an Inova Microlight and a emergency whistle buckle mounted. There are many things and many ways to attach. Be creative! ;-)

If you have other innovative ideas…let me know.
